Understanding Optical Specifications

Posted on September 2nd, 2010 by Jon Miller

Optics can be found virtually everywhere, from fiber optic couplings to machine vision imaging devices to cutting-edge biometric iris identification systems. Many people don’t realize that designing an optic is significantly different from designing the mechanical components of a system.

Over the Edge and Off the Grid Banners

How do you test the speed of fiber optics?

Posted on August 26th, 2010 by Jon Miller

I have this science fair project that i have to turn in and I know someone could help me. My topic is “Testing the speed of fiber optics”. Can anyone help me? please?

This video is an introduction to future videos on how to make your own optical fiber cable for indoor lighting applications. I imagine it could be used for short data transfers but will not say for sure. I am working on getting the perfect filling for this.
